Pelham Joins “Watch for Bikes” Campaign

On Monday, October 7, 2013, the Town of Pelham, in partnership with the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) Niagara, will become the first municipality in our region to outfit all town vehicles with “Watch for Bikes” mirror decals. The decals will be placed on the bottom of exterior mirrors as a reminder to check for cyclists and other traffic before opening doors and exiting.

The Town of Pelham Fire Department is once again raising awareness about fire safety during the annual Fire Prevention Week. The awareness campaign, which runs from October 6th to 12th, is centred on the theme of preventing kitchen fires.

“The best way to prevent kitchen fires is to never leave cooking unattended,” said Pelham Fire Chief Bob Lymburner.

Fenwick Revitalization Project Update

Pelham Council decided during their regular meeting on Monday, September 16, 2013, to temporarily postpone the revitalization of Downtown Fenwick from the fall of 2013 to early 2014.

Council made this decision after receiving a staff report outlining the complexities of the project requirements, including:
1) total road reconstruction to address storm water and soil conditions
2) reconfiguration of overhead utility wires to an underground system

The Town of Pelham, in partnership with LeisurePlan International Inc., a firm specializing in leisure, recreation and fitness, is in the midst of conducting a Multi-Purpose Indoor Community Centre Strategy and Business Model Study to gauge the feasibility of potentially building recreation and culture facilities in our town.
