The Town of Pelham is dedicated to providing a safe, exciting, and FUN camp experience for all our campers.

 Camps and COVID-19

There are several adjustments to our regular and speciality camps this year to better ensure the safety of all participants. The following outlines the current changes according to government guidelines.

Drop off/Pick up

This summer, campers will be dropped off by a parent/guardian to the parking lot entrance of the Meridian Community Centre (MCC). We ask that you remain inside your vehicle, or remain a safe physical distance (at least 2m) from staff if you are walking/biking to camp, as you wait to be checked in.

A screening tool provided by the Niagara Region Public Health Unit will be used to screen campers upon their arrival. Campers will then be directed to their camp room by their camp leader, and we ask that parents/guardians do not enter the building if at all possible.

Camp Groups

Our camp programs will operate in cohorts of 10 or fewer individuals at all times. Our regular camp will consist of an 8:2 camper to staff ratio, and our specialty camps (Bike Camp, Arts & Theatre Camp, and Tennis Camp) will consist of a 7:2 camper to staff ratio.

The camp groups will remain consistent throughout the week, and if children are attending our camp for multiple weeks, their group will be kept as similar as possible. Rooms will be fully disinfected by cleaning staff before any room changes are made.

Physical Distancing

A physical distance of at least 2 meters between campers as well as staff will be encouraged and maintained at all times possible. Campers will engage in games and activities that allow for this distance, as well as activities that limit sharing of common items and equipment. Each camper will have their own table space that will allow for maintaining a safe distance while eating and doing activities such as crafts.

On site disinfectant staff will be fully cleaning all camp rooms every morning, evening, and whenever else necessary. Hand washing will be regularly incorporated into the daily camp routine between all activities and before meals and snacks.

Face Coverings

All staff and campers, over the 5+ years old, must wear a non-medical face coverings or face mask when entering and travelling throughout the building. Face coverings do not need to be warn in their designated camp space.

Unfortunately, we will not be going on any trips this year. As recommended by the government, we will be avoiding any activities or trips that require group transportation and instead will be at the MCC full-time. We will also not be attending the Pelham Pool. Instead we will be having special guests at least once per week to perform/teach workshops from a safe physical distance for each individual group.

Some of the special guests we will be having this year include, magician Scoop McCoy, Pelham Firefighters, Niagara Improv, Mad Science, and children’s entertainer BarryO!

Our goal is to provide a safe, yet still fun and exciting environment!
