To complete your entry, please have parent/guardian sign below and either drop off at the Meridian Community Centre (with contact information on the back) or scan and send to: RE: Public Works Week - publicworks@pelham.ca 

 

Colouring Contest Terms and Conditions:

  1. One entry per participant. Open to Town of Pelham residents ages 14 and under. 
  2. All photo entries must be a clear image scanned or photographed.
  3. All entrants understand and agree that their artwork submitted and first names, may be used in the promotion of this and future events.
  4. Duplicate entries will not be permitted.
  5. Late entries will not be accepted. Entries close May 29, 2023, at 8:00pm
  6. Winners will be randomly drawn from all completed entries. Draw will take place Tuesday May 30 at 10:00am, in the Town of Pelham. Odds of winning depend on number of entries received. 
  7. Winners will be notified by email.
  8. Prize has no cash value and can not be substituted or transferred.
HopON Youth Cycling Program

4 Weeks | June 6-27 | Tuesdays 4:30-6:30pm | Program Fee: $100.00 | Age 7-12

 

The grassroots HopOn program is designed to help young people master basic cycling skills and build confidence through achievement. Launched by Ontario Cycling, the program is a fun, games-based and inclusive of all riders. Our goal is to provide a safe and inclusive environment for youth to socially interact and develop their on-bike skills with our trained instructors.

 

The HopOn program is designed to help youth master basic cycling skills and build confidence through achievement. Launched by Cycling Canada, the program is a fun, games-based and inclusive of all riders.

 

The goal is to provide a safe and inclusive environment for youth to socially interact and develop their on-bike skills with our trained and certified instructors. Riders will learn beginner/intermediate skills focusing on: neutral and ready position, braking, gears, pedalling, straight line riding, slow-speed turns, tilts and dismounts, 1 hand riding, pumping and front wheel lifts. 

 

To participate, riders should feel comfortable:

  1. Turning quickly
  2. Looking behind while riding straight
  3. Rolling off a sidewalk curb

 

This program will meet each week in the courtyard of the Meridian Community Centre, but riders will utilize the local roads and trail systems. Participants are required to provide their own approved bicycle helmet, bell or horn, lights and reflectors and appropriately sized working bike.

 

All HopOn Instructors must complete a series of National Coaches Certification Program (NCCP) training courses, HopOn eLearning module, in-person orientation and submit a vulnerable sector background check.

After School Drama Program

This 8 week series of high-energy drama games and activities, in partnership with Carousel Players, is led by professional artist educators that inspire learners to develop empathy, work collaboratively, and gain confidence. Professional artist educators will guide participants through games, activities, and experiences that teach them individual skills, but also give them the chance to make new friends. Join us as we enter imaginary worlds through improvisation, story telling, and more!

 

8 Week Program March 23 - May 11 | 4:30-5:30pm Ages 6-8 | 5:45-6:45pm ages 9-11 | Cost $100.00

 

Registration is now open for Pelham Residents and opens for those outside of Pelham on February 8th.

 

Babysitting Course

Babysitting is a job with significant responsibility!

 

The St.Johns Ambulance Babysitting Course helps prospective babysitters learn the skills they need including, safety rules, responding to emergencies and developing leadership skills.

This course is for youth aged 11 to 15 years old, and helps to teach new babysitters the necessary skills to provide care to children in a variety of situations including dealing with behaviour, caring for a sick child, and what to ask before caring for a child with disabilities.

  • Saturday May 20 | 9:00am-4:00pm

 

The cost is $85.00 and includes the Babysitting Manual and an Emergency First Aid Kit

Participants are required to bring a doll or stuffed animal large enough to be diapered, a lunch and a pencil.

Drop-in Family Gym Time

This program allows families to come to the Meridian Community Centre for family gym time and physical activity! During this time, families are encouraged to get active, shoot hoops and have fun together! At this time we will not be lending out program equipment and encourage families to bring their own. Basketball nets will be accessible for use.

 

Program fee: Youth- $3.50 | Adults- $6 or Activity Punch Pass $80 for 20 visits

Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30pm 

 

All children must be supervised during this drop-in program

Pelham Youth Forum

The Pelham Mayor's Youth Advisory Council will be hosting the 2023 Youth Forum on May 19th at the Meridian Community Centre from 12-3:30pm!

This afternoon will include a free lunch and networking opportunities with other Pelham Youth.

Attendees are encouraged to share ideas on how Pelham can be more Youth Friendly and what they would like to see in Pelham for youth moving forward!
