The Town of Pelham operates two active cemeteries.

Current services and products provided by these cemeteries include traditional casket burial for full-body interments and/or cremation disposition.

Fonthill Cemetery, located at 25 Highland Avenue, Fonthill

  • The Fonthill Cemetery also houses the Mausoleum Gardens Cremation Niches: The Mausoleum Gardens offer a pair of granite columbaria nestled on either side of the Mausoleum's beautiful stained glass window feature on the south wall.
  • Mausoleum is closed at all times. Access is available Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:00pm by appointment only. If you require access, please contact Public Works Department directly to 905-980-6672 or via email through the contact form below.

Hillside Cemetery, located at 451 Canboro Road, Ridgeville

All fees are subject to 13% harmonized sales tax (HST).

PLEASE NOTE: Both Fonthill and Hillside Cemeteries are closed at 3:00.pm., Monday to Saturday.  Therefore we respectfully ask that all funerals be completed and the cemetery vacated by 3:00 pm.  Should the funeral service continue and patrons remain past 3:00 pm, an overtime fee will apply, as per the Town of Pelham Fee Schedule.

 Cemetery Maintenance & Burials
The department of Public Works is responsible for opening and preparing graves for burials, maintenance of the cemeteries including removal/trimming of plantings around monuments and cornerstones.

 A Guide to Death Care in Ontario
The Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO) has released a consumer-protection information booklet, Consumer Information Guide: A Guide to Death Care in Ontario. The guide is written for families and the public to know their rights and responsibilities before entering into contracts with organizations that are licensed under the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002

The BAO urges all consumers to access A Guide to Death Care in Ontario ahead of time and encourages them to read through the guide, plan ahead and ask a lot of questions prior to entering into a contract with a provider.
