Welcome to Christmas in Pelham!

Partnering with not-for-profit organizations and community groups, the Town of Pelham brings the holiday season's fun and festivities to you in a central location.

This year's events and Christmas in Pelham traditions will take a modified approach to ensure the community's safety. All elements are reviewed and updated based on the recommendations of the Province and Niagara Region Public Health.

Although different from years past, we are looking forward to celebrating some of our favorite Christmas season elements with you.

Letters to Santa! Handwritten or Digital! 🎅

a mail box with direction to mail letter to Santa

There have been many changes to the way we do things year, and letters to Santa is no different. To help the big man in the red suit get messages from all the boys and girls in Pelham, the Town’s recreation, culture, and wellness staff have called in some elf favours and are working with Santa’s elves to get all the children of Pelham letters to the North Pole.

There are two ways the Town has teamed up with the elves to get your letter to Santa:

In person: A drop off at the Meridian Community Centre. You’ll see a red mailbox marked “Santa’s Mailbox” near the Christmas tree through the main entrance. Drop your letter in the mailbox by December 12 to ensure Santa has enough time to get you his response. Don’t forget to include your return address

Email: Yes, Santa is on email, and the Town has worked out an arrangement to provide Santa with his own Pelham email address. For quick and easy letter submissions, you can email Santa your letter to Santa will be checking his email right up until December 23 before he heads out on his Christmas route!

What is a Parade Pass?

Parade attendees will be required to have a Parade Pass for entry into the Parade route. Parade passes are available in limited quantities based on event capacity. Town of Pelham residents can register for a pass starting on December 1 2020. Open registration begins December 10 2020 for all other area. Register here.

What is a "Reverse" Parade?

In this format, the floats become a stationary display and spectators instead drive through the route to view the displays from the safety of their vehicle.

What type of floats are there?

Local businesses and community groups will have displays instead of the traditional floats. They will be along the route that parade attendees will drive by. This years parade will have fewer participants than normal in order to allow for physical distancing. There will be a minimum of 12 different displays.

I'm a Local business - can I participate?

Applications are still open for businesses and community groups who would like to have a display along the route. Please complete an application form. APPLY HERE

How long with the Parade take?

We anticipate there will be a line to enter the Parade in Centennial Park. Once a vehicle has passed the start of the Parade, it is expected that the actual drive by of the displays will take approximately 10 to 15 min.

I have my Parade Pass, how do I get to Centennial Park?

Please enter Church street by way of Foss Road only. Niagara Regional Police and parade volunteers will be onsite to assist with traffic.

How fast will vehicles be going?

Once vehicles enter the parade route inside Centennial Park, we ask that you maintain a 10km/h speed to ensure the safety of our volunteers. Watch for volunteers directions and maintain the distance between vehicles.

Will Santa be there?

Yes! Santa will be part of the Parade!

Do I have to stay in my vehicle?

For the safety of our volunteers and community, each participant will need to remain in their vehicle for the duration of the Reverse Parade. No foot traffic will be permitted.
