The Pelham Public Pool is now closed for the 2023 summer season. 
The Pelham Pool is an outdoor seasonal facility operating from June-September. Information on the 2024 Swim Season will be released in the Spring of 2024.

Membership at the Pelham Community Pool entitles each member admission during all public swim times for one fee. This membership does not include lessons, lane swims or other Aquatic Programs. 

2023 Public swimming is available with a nominal fee payable at the pool as an alternate to seasonal membership. (Adult $4.50, Child $4.00, Family $13.50). 

Swimming Lessons- 2024 Season

Registration details coming soon - Registration will open to Pelham residents on March 25, 2024 and to Non-Residents on April 2, 2024. If a swimming lesson level or time that you are interested in is full, please register to the waitlist and if there is a cancellation or opportunity to offer additional classes, those on the waitlist will be contacted on a first come first serve basis.

Swimming lessons run Monday-Friday in two week sessions throughout July and August. Please see below for session dates, as well as the lesson levels and times available.

Parent & Tot

Parents spend quality time with their child while having fun learning and socializing with others. Through structured in-water interaction between parent and child, this program stresses the importance of play in developing water-positive attitudes and skills.

 Preschool 1

Description: The preschoolers will have fun learning to get in and out of the water. The instructor will help them jump into shallow water. They'll try floats and glides on their front and back and try wearing a PFD. They'll learn to get their face wet and blow bubbles underwater.

 Preschool 2

Description: The preschoolers will learn to jump into chest deep water by themselves, and get in and out wearing a PFD. They'll submerge and exhale underwater. With a buoyant aid, they'll glide on their front and back.

 Preschool 3

Description: The youngsters will try jumping and doing side rolls into deep water wearing a PFD. They'll recover objects from the bottom in waist deep water. They'll work on kicking and gliding through the water on their front and back.

 Preschool 4/5
Description: Preschool 4: Advanced preschoolers will learn to do solo jumps into deeper water and get out by themselves. They'll do side roll entries and open their eyes underwater. They'll master short (3-5m) swims on their front and gliding and kicking on their side.
 
Preschool 5: These youngsters get more adventuresome with forward roll entries wearing a PFD, and holding their breath underwater for up to 10 seconds. They'll work on longer front and back crawl swims, interval training, and get a giggle out of whip kick.

 Swimmer 1

Description: These beginners will be comfortable jumping into water with and without a PFD. They'll learn to open their eyes, exhale underwater, and hold their breath. They'll work on floats, glides, and moving through the water on their front and back.

 Swimmer 2

Description: These advanced beginners will jump into deeper water and learn to be comfortable falling sideways into the water wearing a PFD. They'll be able to support themselves at the surface without an aid, learn whip kick, swim 10-15m on their front and back, and be introduced to flutter kick interval training.

 Swimmer 3

Description: These junior swimmers will dive and do in-water front somersaults. Their new bag of tricks includes handstands and completion of the Canadian Swim to Survive Standard. They'll work on 10-15m of front crawl, back crawl, and whip kick. Flutter kick interval training increases to 4 x 25m.

 

Cost: $86.00 per session

 Swimmer 4

Description: These intermediate swimmers will swim 5m underwater and lengths of front crawl, back crawl, whip kick, and breaststroke arms with breathing. They'll cap it off with front crawl sprints over 25m and 4x25m front crawl or back crawl intervals.

 Swimmer 5

Description: These swimmers will master shallow dive entries, cannonball entries, eggbeater kicks, and in-water backwards somersaults. Surface dives will take them down to underwater swims. They'll refine their front crawl and back crawl over 50m swims of each and breaststroke over 10-15m. Then they'll pick up the pace in 25m sprints and two interval training bouts: 4x50m front or back crawl and 4x10-15m breaststroke.

Swimmer 6

Description: These advanced swimmers will rise to the challenge of sophisticated aquatic skills including stride jumps, compact jump entries, and lifesaving kick-like eggbeater, and scissor kick. They'll develop strength and power in head-up breaststroke sprints over 25m. They'll easily swim front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke, and complain about the 300m workout.

Swim Patrol (Swimmer 7/8/9)
Description: Swimmer 7/8/9 - Rookie, Ranger and Star Patrol
 
Content is organized into three categories - water proficiency, first aid, and rescue. Swim Patrols develop swimming strength and efficiency with emphasis on Water Smart behaviour. Skill drills enhance capability in the water, good physical conditioning, and lifesaving judgement.

 

Cost: $89.00 per session

Bronze Star
Description: Participants develop problem solving skills and decision-making skills individually and in partners. Candidates learn CPR and develop lifesaving skills needed to be their own lifeguard.
 
Please note: an endurance test of 400 metres or 16 lengths timed swim must be completed prior to the end of the course in order for the candidate to be successful.

 

Cost: $92.00 per session

Bronze Medallion
Description: Includes Emergency First Aid and CPR "B" training.
 
Requirements to register: must be 13 years of age by exam date or have successfully complete the Bronze Star Award. Proof of prerequisites will be required at the first class. Class teaches an understanding of lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education - judgement, knowledge, skill, and fitness. Rescuers learn tows and carries, defence methods, and releases in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types.
 
Please note: an endurance test of 500 metres or 20 lengths timed swim must be completed prior to the end of the course in order for the candidate to be successful.

 

Cost: $163.00 per session

Bronze Cross
Description: Requirements to register: must have Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid. Proof of prerequisites will be required at the first class. Designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities.
 
Please note: an endurance test of 600 metres or 24 lengths timed swim must be completed prior to the end of the course in order for the candidate to be successful. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for NLS.

 

Cost: $138.00 per session

Semi-private Lessons
Description: Semi private swimming lessons are for 2 swimmers.
 
 
It is responsibility of the participant to find their own partner and each participants will need to register individually and pay the registration fee. The participants involved in semi-private swimming lessons must not be any more than 3 levels apart. If a participant is in Rookie (Swimmer 7), Ranger (Swimmer 8) or Star Patrol (Swimmer 9), we would not be able to accommodate this participant in private or semi-private lessons.

 

Cost: $160.00 per child per session

Dates and Times: Semi private 1/2 hour lessons are available from 8:00am to 1:00pm and 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Staff will contact parents/guardian to determine time and instructor for semi private lessons in May.

 

Private Lessons
Description: Private 1/2 hour swimming lessons are available for 1 swimmer.
 

 

Cost: $190.00 per session

Dates and Times: Lessons are available from 8:00am - 1:00pm and from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Staff will contact parents/guardian to determine time and instructor for private lessons in May.

Swim Team 

As part of the Niagara Summer Swim League, out-of-town swim meets take place on Saturday mornings throughout the summer, across the Region. Competing in the meets is optional, however if the participant wants to swim in the Regional Meet at the end of the summer, they must participate in at least one meet throughout the season.

 

Cost: $115 for the season

Dates and Times: Practices will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 4-5pm weekly with swim meets taking place on Saturday mornings throughout the summer. Start and End dates for the 2024 season will be released in Winter/Spring of 2024.

Swim Membership

Membership at the Pelham Community Pool entitles each member admission during all public swim times for one fee. This membership does not include lessons, lane swims or other Aquatic Programs. Public swims occur daily throughout the summer season at various times. 

 

Individual Memberships: $63.00 for the season

Family Memberships: $115.00 for the season

Aqua Zumba

Aquatics Program Forms and Information

Pelham Splash Pads

Open Daily: 9:00 a.m. to Dusk. Victoria Day Weekend through to Labour Day.
Please note that there is no Lifeguard present at the splash pads. In the event of an emergency call 911.

The Splash Pad may be closed at any time due to weather, maintenance, or other operational concerns. The water for the Splash Pad is supplied directly from the municipal water supply system, however, is not intended for drinking. The water is not recirculated.

 Splash Pad Rules
  •  Do not use the Splash Pad if you are experiencing any of the following:
    • open sore
    • rash
    • nausea
    • diarrhea
    • vomiting
  • All youth must be actively supervised by a parent/guardian.
  • Participants must be attired for their age and continence ability to prevent fouling. Swim diapers are recommended for those who are unable to manage continence.
  • Food and glass containers are not permitted.
  • No climbing on Splash Pad features.
  • No pets or bicycles are allowed on the Splash Pad.
  • Do not pollute in any manner, the water, surface, or the immediate area surrounding the Splash Pad.
  • Be weather aware. The Splash Pad must be vacated at the sound of thunder.
