Art Installation

See the art!

On July 1st, take a drive and experience the Niagara Area Artist installations.

Installations will be in designated locations within Pelham.

Heather Potts - North Pelham Park

Installation: Mural/ Painting- enlarged version of a COVID 19 piece highlighting the heroes of this pandemic.

North Pelham Park, 1746 Cream St, Ridgeville, ON L0S 1M0

Heather Potts Bio & Explanation of their installation:

I have lived in Fonthill for ten years now and truly love Pelham. I discovered my passion for watercolours and murals in the last five years. Being able to share it with the residents of this beautiful town, especially during these times when art is so needed, is an honour. The installation is a painting celebrating essential workers during the pandemic named '19 of 19' 19 heroes of 2019, all who are personal friends or family members near and dear to my heart.

Els & John Swart - Harold Black Park

Installation: a Painted Bicycle located at Harold Black Park, 953 Haist St, Fonthill, ON L0S 1E4

Els & John Swart Bio and explanation of their installation:

John and I, residents of Fonthill spend many hours on our bicycles cycling in the Region and other parts of Ontario and Canada. We also promote cycling for both adults and children as a form of exercise, a mode of transportation, a social activity, a way to travel and see new regions/other countries. We thought this installation would be fun to do for a festive Canada Day. Canada Day gives us Canadians a day to celebrate our beautiful country!

Manolo Art - Meridian Community Centre

Installation: Hay sculpture depicting a child taking care of a plant, located at the Meridian Community Centre, 100 Meridian Way, Fonthill.

Manolo Art Bio & explanation of their installation:

I wish I could have grown up in Canada but coming from another country, I see things in a different light. To me, the way Canadians appreciate and care for nature is what I find most admirable. As an artist I've found installations as a great way to express and interact without a word, specially because English is not my first language.

 Peter Shishkov - Peace Park

Installation: Wood Burnt Adirondack Chairs stationed in Peace Park

Mr. Wood Burn Bio & Explanation of their installation:

A current Welland resident, I have been wood burning as a hobby craft/ business since 2015, I started wood burning when I was diagnosed with a severe concussion and needed to stay busy while I was healing. I have created an interactive installation of two wood burnt Adirondack chairs, which were hand crafted by a local Welland resident, and I've wood burnt my favorite Canadian animals on the chairs. I feel the Muskoka chairs are a Canadian icon and many people identify Muskoka chairs as the symbol of relaxing. Happy Canada Day Pelham!

Open Call for Canada Day Art Temporary Installations:

The Planning group and the Pelham Art Advisory Committee are welcoming applications for temporary outdoor art installations.
