The Town of Pelham proudly announces the completion of its New Official Plan - Picturing Pelham. This project marks a significant milestone for Pelham as it is the first municipality in the Niagara Region to finalize a New Official Plan since the removal of Planning Authority from the Region of Niagara by the Province. On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Town Council adopted By-law No. 28 2025 to approve the New Official Plan. The document will now be submitted to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing for final approval under the Planning Act.

The Town of Pelham is launching a new pilot project to operate the concession at the Meridian Community Centre (MCC). This initiative represents a new approach to enhancing services for residents and visitors.

This week-long event will focus on green initiatives aimed at fostering environmental sustainability within the community. Highlights include a ceremonial tree planting with Earth Day Canada on April 22 and a community-wide clean-up, eco-expo and rain barrel pick-up on April 26.
Upcoming Town of Pelham Ward One Council Vacancy
TAKE NOTICE that a vacancy on Town of Pelham Council for Ward One is anticipated. Council has directed that this vacancy be filled by appointment through a call for applications, in accordance with in accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001, and Council Vacancy Policy (S201-22).
The vacancy is expected to be formally declared by Council at its meeting on April 16, 2025, and will be effective shortly thereafter. This vacancy follows the recommendation of a sitting Council member for appointment to Niagara Regional Council to fill a vacancy for a Pelham representative. The successful candidate will serve on Council until the end of the current term, which concludes on November 14, 2026.
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must be qualified electors under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and fulfill all of the following requirements:
o Resides in or be the owner or tenant of land in Town of Pelham, or the spouse of such owner or tenant;
o Is a Canadian citizen;
o Is at least 18 years old; and,
o Is not prohibited from voting under Section 17(3) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 or otherwise by law.
Any qualified individual may submit a completed application package in person to the Clerk or designate, with identification. Application packages will be available online or in-person at 20 Pelham Town Square, Fonthill, ON, by noon on Monday, March 31, 2025.
Applications will be accepted at the Clerk’s Office, 20 Pelham Town Square, Fonthill, during regular business hours from March 31, 2025, until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, by appointment.
An appointment must be scheduled with the Clerk or designate for this purpose.
Applicants may also submit a personal statement of qualification for Council’s consideration. Personal statements must be typewritten in 12-point font on letter-size paper (8½ x 11"), not exceed two (2) pages in length, and include the applicant’s name and address. Statements that do not meet these requirements will not be included in any Council meeting agenda or provided to Council by the Clerk.
Prior to submitting an application, interested individuals should refer to the Municipal Act, 2001 and the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 for further details relating to the required qualifications.
