Flags lowered to half mast in honour of Pelham Firefighter Captain Timothy VanDerWeide

The Town of Pelham is saddened to share the news that Pelham firefighter Captain Timothy VanDerWeide has died following a courageous battle with occupational cancer. 

Timothy VanDerWeide began working with the Pelham Fire Department at Station Two in 1990, was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2007, and continued to serve with the department until the time of his line-of-duty passing. 

He was deeply engaged in many aspects of the Pelham Fire Department. He contributed to the design and purchase of many of the fire apparatus at Station Two, served on the Station Two rebuild committee in 2010, and participated in countless other projects to improve the department's operations. For the past 37 years, Captain VanDerWeide also served as a member of the Fenwick Fire Fighters Association, contributing to many fundraisers and serving on the organization's executive board.

All flags in Pelham have been lowered to half-mast in remembrance of Captain Vanderweide.

The Town extends heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, former colleagues, fellow firefighters, and all those who knew him during this difficult time.
