Pelham Leaders Advocate for Local Priorities at 2026 AMO Conference
August 25, 2026
Pelham, ON — Members of Council and staff from the Town of Pelham joined more than 3,600 participants from the 444 municipalities and organizations across Ontario at the 2026 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference, held August 16-19 in Ottawa.
The annual conference brings together leaders from communities across Ontario to share ideas, learn from one another, and advocate for solutions to the challenges facing municipalities across the province. The event also strengthens collaboration between municipal, provincial, and federal decision-making partners. Key topics at this year’s conference included housing, growth, public safety, and the escalating pressures on municipal services.
During the conference, Pelham’s delegation, including Deputy Mayor Brian Eckhardt, Councillors Bob Hildebrandt, Shellee Niznik, and Bryce Brunarski, along with CAO David Cribbs, met with three provincial ministries to discuss projects of significance to Pelham residents. This included the increased demand for recreational infrastructure investment in the municipality; and additional opportunities to highlight Pelham as a prime destination for visitors to the Niagara Region.
