Pelham Residents Encouraged to Celebrate their Gardens in the 2025 Miracle-Gro Best Garden Contest
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 13, 2025
Pelham, ON – The Town of Pelham is inviting residents and local businesses to showcase their gardening creativity with the return of the Miracle-Gro Best Garden Contest. Hosted in partnership with Miracle-Gro, the Pelham Garden Club, and the Pelham Communities in Bloom initiative, the contest celebrates the pride Pelham residents take in making the town beautiful, sustainable, and welcoming.
Now in its third year, the contest shines a spotlight on gardeners of all skill levels, from seasoned green thumbs to enthusiastic beginners, who are helping their neighbourhoods bloom. This year’s contest features an exciting new edible garden category, encouraging residents to explore the joys of growing their own food. Whether backyard vegetable beds, herbs by the front door, or a creative patio planter, every garden can make a difference.
“This contest is such a fun way for people to get involved and show off what they’ve been growing,” said Vickie vanRavenswaay, Director of Recreation, Culture and Wellness. “The Pelham Garden Club does a wonderful job inspiring others and helping bring people together through gardening. It’s all about enjoying the process and helping Pelham bloom.”
The Garden Contest is an integral part of Pelham’s Communities in Bloom efforts as part of the national initiative that encourages municipalities to foster civic pride, environmental responsibility, and community enhancement through the power of plants and people. Gardens will be judged based on overall appearance, creativity and design, sustainable gardening practices, and how well they integrate edible garden elements as part of this year’s bonus category. Finalists will be selected from photo submissions and a curbside review process. The top twelve (12) finalists will receive a Best Garden lawn sign and Miracle-Gro products. Entries close on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.
The Pelham Garden Club, a long-standing champion of horticulture and community beautification, is supporting this year’s event through expert guidance and community involvement. Members of the club are passionate about engaging residents of all ages to enjoy the many benefits of gardening.
