Canada Post Strike Action
Due to the strike action by Canada Post postal workers, mailings for Town of Pelham residents, suppliers and customers will be impacted.
Town of Pelham property owners and residents are responsible for property tax and water payments.
Water Bills: The Town of Pelham’s bi-monthly water bills from July to August, were mailed to residents using Canada Post earlier in September. Residents should have received this bill prior to the current strike action.
The payment due date is 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025.
Payments can be made:
Regular penalties for late payments will apply.
Pre-Authorized Payment: Pre-authorized automatic withdrawal payment plans offer an easy, hassle-free payment option. Payments are always made on-time, avoiding any late payment charges and residents do not have to wait in line to make payments. There are no administration fees or charges by the Town to join any of these plans. To enroll in a pre-authorized payment plan, please visit www.pelham.ca/pap to review the terms and conditions and complete the application form.
Property Tax: Property tax reminders are typically mailed to owners in December. Residents can reach out to the Property Tax Team to inquire about any unpaid balances at taxes@pelham.ca.
Accounts Payable: For any vendor receiving cheque payments delivered by mail, there are expected delays in receiving reimbursement. Vendors may collect their cheques in person by providing valid identification at the time of pickup at Town Hall. Vendors can also enroll in EFT payment to receive payment more efficiently by contacting accountspayable@pelham.ca.
The Town is working to update all impacted addresses from the Canada Post postal code change for all Town accounts. Town staff will update postal codes for water billing, taxes, and accounts payable for impacted residents, no action is required by the homeowner. For a checklist designed to aid residents in updating their addresses elsewhere, click the "Postal Code Changes" text to be directed to the Resident Resources page.

Judging for Communities in Bloom
The judging process is designed to encourage communities to work together to create beautiful, sustainable, and environmentally responsible spaces to enhance the quality of life of their residents.
All municipalities across Canada are judged by dedicated, specially trained volunteer judges based on six criteria which include efforts made by residents, municipal bodies and all forms of businesses. The judges travel across Ontario during the summer and evaluate each location based on six factors.
Based on the evaluation, communities may be awarded ratings from one to five blooms, five blooms being the highest rating. Based on their ranking, communities can move on to the national and international competitions. Communities may also be eligible for special awards based on specific criteria such as sustainability, biodiversity, or community involvement.
Heritage Conservation, includes efforts to preserve natural and cultural heritage within the community. Preservation of natural heritage pertains to policies, plans and actions concerning all elements of biodiversity including flora and fauna ecosystems and associated geological structures and formations. Cultural conservation refers to the heritage that helps define the community including the legacy of tangible (built/hard assets) elements such as heritage buildings, monuments, memorials, cemeteries, artifacts, museums and intangible elements such as traditions, customs, festivals and celebrations. The participation of groups such as historical societies and conservation groups are considered.
