Town of Pelham Re-Launches “Love My Neighbourhood” Program to Inspire Community Connection and Local Celebrations
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 5, 2025
Pelham, ON – The Town of Pelham is proud to relaunch Love My Neighbourhood, a refreshed community-building program designed to empower residents to host small, inclusive events in local parks and shared spaces.
Built on the basis that strong communities are created one neighbour at a time, Love My Neighbourhood provides residents with the support, tools, and funding they need to bring people together close to home. Whether it’s a casual picnic, a sidewalk chalk art session, or a mini-Olympics in a local park, the program helps residents spark connections and build a greater sense of belonging.
“This program is about creating opportunities to turn neighbours into friends and public spaces into places of celebration,” said Kristina Clint Manager of Recreation, Culture and Wellness. “The Town wants to make it as easy and fun as possible for people to plan events that reflect the spirit of their neighbourhoods.”
Through the program, Pelham residents can apply to host a Love My Neighbourhood event and receive support from the Town. The support includes Pelham Bucks, up to $175 per event, which can be used to help cover event costs like food, or purchases from participating local businesses. Insurance for the event will be provided by the Town of Pelham. Approved events also gain access to a Town Resource Kit and trailer filled with helpful items such as tables, signage, and games. Staff guidance is available throughout the planning process, including help with logistics and finalizing insurance.
To qualify, all Love My Neighbourhood events must be free, held in person, inclusive, and open to all residents within a defined neighbourhood or community. Applications must be submitted at least 3–4 weeks prior to the event date. The return of this program follows earlier success in the community and growing interest in its return.
“Love My Neighbourhood was a wonderful initiative prior to 2020, with neighbourhoods across Pelham using it to host everything from block parties to coffee chats in the park,” said Vickie vanRavenswaay, Director of Recreation, Culture & Wellness. “We’ve heard from many residents and community groups eager to see its return. With new neighbours moving here, it’s the perfect time to invite everyone to make use of the public spaces and connect in meaningful ways.”
Applications for 2025 Love My Neighbourhood events are now open.
