Pelham, ON The Town of Pelham is expanding its popular pickleball clinics to now include outdoor sessions at the Fenwick Pickleball Courts in Centennial Park. In response to increasing demand, Pelham’s new outdoor beginner-level pickleball clinics will provide participants with foundational instruction in a relaxed setting, guided by experienced and passionate coaches.

“It’s exciting to see the expansion to offer outdoor clinics at the beautiful Fenwick Pickleball Courts. Pickleball is a unique and quickly growing sport that so many in Pelham are enjoying—it’s easy to get started, fun to play, and a great way to stay active,” said Kristina Clint, Manager of Recreation, Culture and Wellness for the Town of Pelham.

The beginner clinics, taught by experienced and patient instructors, will be held at the outdoor courts at Centennial Park in Fenwick. The clinics, scheduled for Saturday, July 12 and Saturday, July 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., are designed for those with up to three months of experience. Participants will learn about the history and fundamentals of the sport, including basic doubles positioning and strategy, serving and return techniques, dinking, volleying, half-volley and smash techniques with proper footwork, as well as forehand and backhand ground stroke techniques using both one- and two-handed grips.

According to Pickleball Canada, recreational play is the foundation of the sport, offering both fun and health benefits for players at every stage. Pickleball is one of Canada’s fastest-growing sports, appealing to people of all ages and skill levels. Combining elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, it is easy to learn and promotes physical activity, social connection, and inclusive recreation.
