Pelham Winterfest includes Expanded Seasonal Activities and Community Traditions

Press release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 2, 2025
Pelham, ON — The Town of Pelham is proud to launch Pelham Winterfest, a newly expanded seasonal celebration for 2025 that builds upon and evolves the long-standing traditions of the former Christmas in Pelham event. With festivities now continuing into January, Pelham Winterfest introduces an enhanced calendar of activities designed to bring residents and visitors together throughout the holiday season. The event is supported with funding provided by The Tourism Partnership of Niagara and the Government of Ontario.

A key feature of this year’s celebration is the Pelham Winterfest Outdoor Market, taking place on Friday, December 5 from 4:00 to 9:30 p.m. in Downtown Fonthill under the arches. This year introduces an exciting addition of a synthetic outdoor “glice” rink, offering a unique skating experience for all ages. Residents and visitors are encouraged to bring their skates to enjoy this new addition of the evening's festivities.  Alongside the rink, the outdoor market will feature local artisan vendors, live music, treats, holiday décor and visits with Santa.

Pelham Winterfest also offers an expanded series of seasonal workshops designed to spark creativity and help residents embrace the festive season. Participants can register for hands-on experiences including the Fused Glass Ornament Workshop, the Modern Winter Centrepiece Workshop, and a winter landscape painting workshop. These sessions provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to craft unique décor and learn new skills. Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged.

Visitors can also enjoy public skating sessions at the Meridian Community Centre throughout Pelham Winterfest, providing festive entertainment and opportunities for active recreation. In addition, residents and businesses are encouraged to participate in the Winterfest Light Tour, showcasing elaborately decorated homes and storefronts. The self-guided tour allows community members to enjoy the holiday lights and vote for their favourite displays, spreading festive cheer across Pelham with voting extended to January 9, 2026.

“Pelham Winterfest represents the next chapter of our community’s holiday celebrations,” said Mayor Marvin Junkin. “By expanding the event into January and introducing new activities such as the glice rink, the Town is proud to offer an exciting lineup of festivities that bring people together and capture the spirit of the Christmas season.”

Another long-standing favourite, the Fabulous Fenwick Lions Santa Claus Parade, will take place on Saturday, December 13 at 1:00 p.m. The parade begins at Bethany Christian Reformed Church on Balfour Street and proceeds through downtown Fenwick to Centennial Park. The event officially welcomes Santa to town and continues to be a highlight for families across Pelham.

Families can also take advantage of Winter Break Camps, designed for children ages 4 to 12 and running December 22 and 23, as well as December 29, 30 and January 2. Held at the Meridian Community Centre and at Old Pelham Town Hall, these camps offer a blend of crafts, gym activities, ice time and holiday-themed programming to keep children active, engaged and entertained throughout the winter school break.

Pelham Winterfest will also offer a special weekend of skating-inspired family fun at the Meridian Community Centre from January 8-11, including additional live entertainment and activities for families.
