Pelham’s Canada Day Party in the Park on July 1

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 25, 2026
Pelham, ON – The Town of Pelham invites residents and visitors to come together for the annual Canada Day Party in the Park on Wednesday, July 1.
The Canada Day Parade, a longtime community highlight, will begin at 3:00 p.m., travelling from A.K. Wigg Public School along Haist Street to Harold Black Park. The Canada Day Working Group invites local schools, sports teams, businesses, music groups, and community organizations to take part with floats, performance groups, or walking entries. As part of the celebration, floats will be judged by the community, and voting will be open online until July 6. Prizes will be awarded to the top three floats that best capture the spirit of Canada.
Following the parade, the celebration continues in Harold Black Park, where familiar favourites return to help mark the day. Families can enjoy a variety of activities in the Kids Zone, proudly sponsored by the Rotary Club of Fonthill, which runs from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Kids Zone will feature face painting, inflatables, Sandtastic Art, sno-cones, lawn games, bubbles, and more. Residents are invited to stay and enjoy the rest of the day in the park, with local food vendors, the Lions concessions and artisan vendors. There will also be live entertainment and performances by Niagara bands, including The Chimps, a local favourite from past Pelham Summerfest stages, who will perform leading into the 10:00 p.m. fireworks show.
“Canada Day in Pelham is an opportunity to come together and celebrate the traditions that make our community special,” said Ryan Cook, Associate Director - Community Services. “From the parade and fireworks to music, food and familiar faces in the park, it’s a day that brings residents together.”
There are many ways to show your Canadian pride this year in Pelham, from the morning yoga in the park to the fireworks display. Plus, enjoy the soccer-inspired skills and drills! Residents can also take part in the ongoing civic pride by recording themselves or a group singing O Canada, which could be used as the opening to future Pelham Council meetings.
This community celebration is supported by the generous sponsorships provided by Marty’s Heating and Cooling, Rotary Club of Fonthill, Dube Realtors, Niagara Peninsula Energy (NPEI), Fonthill Lions and community member Lance Wiebe. Additional funding is provided by a $16,000 grant from the Government of Canada’s Celebrate Canada Program, administered by Canadian Heritage and an additional $5,000 to support interactive elements highlighting the FIFA World Cup tour.
