Notice of Passing of a Heritage Designation By-Law

TAKE NOTICE THAT the Council of the Town of Pelham passed By-law 43-2026  designating 491 Canboro Road (Old Pelham Town Hall) on September 2, 2026, under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990.

The purpose and effect of the By-law is to designate the lands legally described as Con 9 Pt Lot 9(Old Pelham Town Hall) and municipally known as 491 Canboro Road,  as having cultural heritage value or interest.

And Take Notice that any person may appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) with respect to the Heritage Designation By-law 43-2026 by filing a Notice of Appeal, no later than 4:30 pm on October 8, 2026. The filing of an appeal after 4:30 pm will be deemed to have been received the next business day.

A Notice of Appeal can be filed using the OLT e-File Service, along with any applicable appeal fees, by visiting olt.gov.on.ca/e-file-service/.

In the event the OLT e-File portal is not available, a Notice of Appeal may be submitted  to:

The Notice of Appeal must:

• be on the prescribed form as provided by the OLT;
• set out the objection to the by-law and the reasons in support of the objection; and
• be accompanied by the fees required by the OLT. If paying by certified cheque or money order, it must be payable to the “Minister of Finance, Province of Ontario”.
