Flags lowered to half-mast in observance of National Day of Mourning April 28, 2025

Flags fly at half mast at pelham town hall day of mourning

In observance of the National Day of Mourning, the flags in the Town of Pelham have been lowered to half-mast and will remain lowered until April 29th.

Residents are encouraged to take time on April 28 to pause, reflect, and remember those who lost their lives or suffered an injury or illness due to their workplace and to renew the commitment to creating safer workplaces.

With each worker tragedy, there are loved ones, family members, friends and co-workers who are directly affected, left behind, and deeply impacted – their lives also forever changed.

To help commemorate the day, the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) created the following video.

The National Day of Mourning has been recognized since April 28, 1991. It is observed worldwide and has since spread to about 100 countries.
