Backyard Hen License
This application form is to be used by persons or public bodies wishing to apply for a Backyard Hen License in the Town of Pelham in order to keep hens on properties where the Town’s Zoning By-law does not permit them.
For your Application to be considered, please be aware that your property must be a minimum size of one (1) acre. No property under one (1) acre is permitted to house hens unless specifically permitted in the Town’s Zoning Bylaw.
Procedure for the application
The following documents must be enclosed with the application:
- Completed and signed application form;
- Site Plan of the property showing all buildings and structures, including the proposed
location(s) of the hen coop and hen run, as well as the dimensions and appropriate setbacks; - If you are not the owner of the property (ie. a renter or lessee) please include a written document signed by the property owner indicating their support of the application;
- Proof applicant is at least 18 years of age; and
- Application fee of $100.
Complete and return the form and the required supporting material to the By-law Services
Department. Once town staff receive a completed form and the required materials, a site
inspection will be scheduled.
All questions on the application form must be completed. If the form is incomplete or inaccurate, the application will be returned.
