Town Council has again this year proclaimed the month of June as Seniors’ Month in an effort to honour seniors, their knowledge, experience and the contributions they make to Pelham.
“Council is dedicated to helping seniors continue to serve as leaders, mentors, volunteers and very active members in our community,” said Mayor Dave Augustyn. “We recognize that seniors have contributed and continue to contribute immensely to the life and vibrancy of Pelham.”
Planned for the month of June are a number of senior-friendly events and activities:
- Container Gardening Workshop
- Hosted by the Pelham Public Library.
- Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 2pm. Pelham Public Library, Fonthill Branch (43 Pelham Town Square).
- Cost: $8.00. Please register ahead.
- Official Launch of the Niagara Aging Strategy and Action Plan
- Hosted by Niagara Age-Friendly Community.
- Friday, June 5, 2015 at 10am. Atrium at Niagara Region Headquarters in Thorold.
- 2nd Annual Pelham Seniors’ Forum
- Hosted by the Pelham Seniors’ Advisory Committee
- Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 12:30pm. Royal Canadian Legion (141 Hwy 20 East, Fonthill).
- Cost: FREE. Please register ahead.
- Festival of Smiles, Smile Theatre Production
- Hosted by Pleasantview Funeral Home & the Town of Pelham.
- Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 2:00pm. Old Pelham Town Hall (491 Canboro Road, Ridgeville).

- Tickets: $17.50 includes tea, scones, sandwiches, fresh fruit tarts, and much more. Available at Pelham Town Hall.
In June each year, Ontario celebrates seniors and recognizes the contributions they make to our communities. June 2015 marks the 31st annual Seniors’ Month. This year’s theme is “Vibrant Seniors, Vibrant Communities”.
