The Town of Pelham, in partnership with LeisurePlan International Inc., a firm specializing in leisure, recreation and fitness, is in the midst of conducting a Multi-Purpose Indoor Community Centre Strategy and Business Model Study to gauge the feasibility of potentially building recreation and culture facilities in our town.
We are looking for resident input regarding current participation in recreational and cultural programs and activities to help determine potential future requirements.
Starting today, randomly selected Pelham residents will be asked to participate in a brief 10 minute telephone survey with LeisurePlan representatives. Adults will be asked about their recreation and culture habits and preferences, and guardians will answer on behalf of children under age 18. The calls will be scheduled to ensure no biased day of the week or hour of the day is used, and up to three call backs will be attempted to guarantee a representative sample is surveyed and a statistically significant result achieved. All information collected through the short survey will remain strictly confidential.
“Over the last number of years, many in the community have expressed the desire for increased recreational and cultural services,” said Mayor Dave Augustyn. “This statistically valid survey will help Council gauge the need for these services and evaluate whether a business case exists to expand services like indoor aquatics, arena ice-times, fitness programs, and other facilities.”
Local community groups and organizations currently providing recreation and culture related services to Pelham residents will also be surveyed through a customized questionnaire.
The Multi-Purpose Indoor Community Centre Strategy and Business Model Study builds on previous research the Town has done, which found additional indoor aquatic, fitness, gymnasium, recreation and culture facilities may be required to service Pelham residents in the future. Collecting new and relevant data will help elaborate on the magnitude and characteristics of current and future demand for such programs and activities, and recommend the best approach to possibly accommodate them.
