Special weather statement issued for January 25, 2023

Special weather statement in effect for:

Niagara Falls - Welland - Southern Niagara Region
St. Catharines - Grimsby - Northern Niagara Region

Significant snowfall likely Wednesday morning into Thursday morning.

Hazards:
Total snowfall accumulations near 10 cm.
Reduced visibility in heavy snow.
Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult.

Timing:
Wednesday morning into early Thursday morning.

Discussion:
A Texas low is expected to bring snow to the area Wednesday morning into Thursday morning. There may be a switch to rain during the evening on Wednesday however if this area remains as snow then a snowfall warning may be required. Snowfall accumulations of 10 are likely, with locally higher amounts of up to 15 cm.
