Niagara Region is changing the price of garbage tags from $2.00 per tag to $2.50 effective Feb. 1, 2020. This is to move towards full cost recovery of garbage collection and part of our continued effort to increase the diversion of recyclable and organic materials, which are currently being placed in the garbage stream.

Special weather statement - rainfall warning Jan. 24, 2020

Issued Jan. 24, 2020

Significant rainfall likely tonight.

Rain is expected to begin late this afternoon or early this evening and then taper off or change to snow Saturday morning or afternoon. Total rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm are expected.

The frozen ground and thin snowpack will have a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Local ponding on streets is possible, especially where storm drains are covered in snow or ice.

Council meetings to be live-streamed as of Feb. 3, 2020

The Town of Pelham’s Council, Committee of the Whole, and Policy and Priorities Committee meetings will be live-streamed beginning Monday, February 3, 2020.

Previously, Council and Committee videos were uploaded to the Town’s YouTube channel, usually within 48-hours of the meeting. Switching to a live-stream option allows viewers the ability to tune in as a meeting occurs, and reduces the wait time before the recording is posted to the YouTube channel.

The Town of Pelham’s annual March Break Camp for 2020, is now open for registration.

Pelham residents have the first opportunity to secure spots for their kids; general registration for those outside Pelham begins Monday, February 3, 2020.

Town to offer day camp in the event of teacher's strike

Should schools be closed due to the Ontario English Catholic Teacher's Association (OECTA) strike on Tuesday, January 21, the Town of Pelham is offering a camp program at a daily rate. The Town of Pelham will offer day camps for any future strikes affecting elementary students in the Niagara Region.
