Niagara’s 12 Mayors and Regional Chair offered the following statement regarding the announcement of the region moving into phase 2:

“This afternoon the Premier of Ontario announced that Niagara would be moving to Stage 2 as of this Friday at 12:01 a.m. This means many businesses and public facilities may begin to reopen, but incorporating measures to prevent the spread of infection.

With public Canada Day celebrations going virtual this year due to COVID-19, Pelham residents are encouraged to display their Canadian pride with free home décor kits and submissions of their rendition of the national anthem; the latter coming with a chance to be featured in a special Canada Day collaboration.

Farmers Market opens this week

The Pelham Farmers Market's first day of operation this year is June 11, 2020.

The market will have 13 vendors instead of its usual 26. The reduced number of vendors allows for appropriate distancing.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the market is starting later in the year than usual. This late start allowed for significant consultation between Pelham staff, the Market’s Committee, and Niagara Region Public Health, ensuring best practices and safety measures are implemented for vendors and customers.

Rural roadside mowing program starts June 8, 2020

On Monday, June 8, the Town of Pelham will begin its rural roadside mowing program.

The program addresses the grass that grows along roadsides, mostly in front of agricultural properties and naturalized areas outside of the Urban Boundaries. However, there are a few locations inside the urban boundaries that are also maintained through this program, such as the ditch on Pelham Street.

Pelham, ON – The Pelham pool at Marlene Stewart Streit Park will open this summer, though an opening date is not yet known.

Council passed a motion on June 1, 2020, approving the pool’s opening, pending Provincial and Regional permissions and guidelines.
