A statement from the Province of Ontario - Oct. 19, 2020.

TORONTO — Today, Dr. David Williams, Chief Medical Officer of Health, issued the following statement detailing public health advice for Halloween this year:

"As Ontarians begin to prepare for Halloween this year, I'd like to remind everyone to take extra precautions to ensure you are keeping yourself and your families safe.

Waste collection changes coming Oct. 19, 2020

Niagara's residential diversion rate (the percentage of waste not going to landfill) has levelled off to around 56 per cent, and we continue to send about 44 per cent of our waste to landfills. To reduce the amount of recyclables and organic waste going into our landfills, we're making changes.

The new waste collection contract includes changes that will: 

  • Help increase diversion
  • Preserve landfill space for waste that can’t be recycled or composted
  • Save natural resources
  • Reduce our impact on climate...

Wishing you and your family a happy Thanksgiving weekend. 

Town Hall, administrative offices, and the Meridian Community Centre are closed Monday, October 12. 

Regular business hours resume Tuesday, October 13.

Adult Learn to Skate returns Oct. 19

It's never too late to learn to skate!

Learn various skills involving moving forward and backward, gliding, stopping, turning, and developing endurance. Please note that all participants must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet, and we cannot loan helmets at this time.

Register at www.pelham.ca/register 

  • Fee: $70 for 10 weeks
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Instructor-led
