Temporary road closure - road rehabilition Regional Road 20 (HWY 20) Pen Lakes entrance to Balfour St.

Notice from the Niagara Region

Motorists and the general public are hereby advised that Regional Road 20 (Hwy 20) will be temporarily closed to through traffic on a block by block basis until 6:00 pm. on Nov. 8, 2018, weather permitting.

The road closure is necessary to pave the road surface on Regional Road 20 (Hwy 20) from Peninsula Lakes Golf Course entrance to Balfour Street.

The detour route for the closure is as follows: Balfour Street/Canboro Road/Effingham Street

COYOTE SIGHTING

We have had a sighting of a large coyote behind Beechwood Crescent close to the Steve Bauer Trail.  Though it is not normal for a coyote to approach a human, they will in fact approach a dog, cat or any other small animal if given the opportunity.  It is advised to keep your dogs leashed and close to you while out walking and ensure cats remain indoors especially during dusk to dawn when coyotes are most active.  Please always be aware of your surroundings when out walking. PUBLIC NOTICE: Sanitary Sewer Flushing

Please be advised the Town is currently conducting its annual sanitary sewer flushing program. This process cleans the municipal sewer throughout various areas of the town. Due to varying pressure required, some residents may experience bubbling in their toilets. This is a normal event that can occur and there is no need to contact Town staff. The contractor completing the work is making every effort to ensure this does not happen.

Lookout Street Temporary Roundabout Pilot Project

Over time, we have received several calls, complaints and emails pertaining to the speed on Lookout Street prompting a speed survey.  

The results of that survey showed that:

AADT (Annual Average Daily Traffic)= 1223 vehicles

85th Percentile = 85km/h

Average speed = 65km/h

Another statistic that stands out is that 38% of all vehicles were travelling over 89km/h

To calm traffic, we are piloting 2 mini-roundabouts, set up at both Brewerton and Marlene Stewart Boulevard. The pilot will be temporary...
