The Town of Pelham Adopt-a-Road has been established as a public service program for volunteers to pick up litter along certain Town road right-of-way. This is a means for environmentally conscious citizens, community and civic organizations, private businesses and industries to make a personal contribution to a cleaner and more beautiful road system.
Under the program, groups or individuals agree to adopt a section of Town road allowance and keep it clean. In addition to a cleaner environment, the volunteers or organizations are recognized by a sign listed by the Town acknowledging their efforts. Volunteers wishing to participate in the Adopt-A-Road Program must complete and submit an agreement to the Recreation Culture & Wellness Department.
The Town of Pelham would like to thank all volunteer groups and organizations that continue to participate in the Adopt-A-Road Program. Your efforts are very much appreciated and we look forward to working with you on this very important initiative!
How the Program Works |
Groups choose or are assigned a section of road up to 2 kilometres in length for adoption. When volunteers sign on for a 3-year term, signs are erected to recognize the group. Although there are numerous streets in need of care, safety concerns may restrict the streets available for adoption. |
Volunteer Responsibilities |
* Appoint or select an authorized group representative to act as a liaison between their group and the Town; |
