The municipalities of Grimsby, Lincoln, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Pelham, Thorold and West Lincoln formed a joint Accessibility Advisory Committee under the provisions of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. The municipalities subject to this advertisement invite applications from members of the public who are interested in serving on the Joint Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee. The Councils are seeking volunteers from across the Municipalities to serve on the Committee. People with disabilities and members of families of people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
The main purposes and activities of the Accessibility Advisory Committee are:
- To advise Councils on the preparation, implementation and effectiveness of an annual accessibility plan
- To review site plans of and advise on accessibility issues relating to identified buildings within the Municipalities
- To advise Councils on other accessibility related issues within the Municipalities including policies and procedures associated with accessibility issues, customer service etc.
Applicant Eligibility:
- must be a resident of Grimsby, Lincoln, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Pelham, Thorold or West Lincoln
- over the age of 18 years
- not employed by any of the municipalities
The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 requires that the majority of committee members shall include people with disabilities.
Submission of Applications:
Application forms are available at the Municipal Halls or by following the link below. Applicants who are to be considered will be requested to attend a private interview conducted by the Recruitment Committee.
